The H-E-B grocery company has voluntarily recalled this flavor of ice cream over concerns that it may contain wood splinters.
Before you reach for a bowl of ice cream for dessert tonight, be sure to check the date on the label. According to a report from Immortal News, a major supermarket chain has voluntarily recalled a line of ice cream due to the possible presence of a foreign material – wood splinters.
The H-E-B supermarket chain, headquartered in San Antonio, TX has announced that it would recall a line of its popular store-brand ice cream products, after a source indicated that it was possibly contaminated with tiny pieces of wood. The company issued a press release on Thursday describing the decision to recall the ice cream.
The company stressed in their announcement that the recall was voluntary, and carried out due to an “abundance of caution.” The flavor in question is H-E-B brand Creamy Creations Caramel Pecan Turtle Ice Cream, which may have potentially been contaminated with wood pieces.
This isn’t the only ice cream scare that’s occurred in recent months – the Blue Bell Company recently recalled ice cream after the deaths of multiple people and the hospitalization of even more. Fortunately, no illnesses or injuries have been reported as a result of the recent potential wood shard contamination with the H-E-B company.
Consumers who have purchased the ice cream flavor in question can return the products to the company for a full refund. The products in question are:
